Torre La Mata bustles with life in the summer, when sun worshipers take up the sunbeds on Playa de la Mata – a wide strip of sand with a boardwalk in front of a number of bars and restaurants serving local rice dishes.

The beach is 2,500 meters long and an average of 30 meters wide. It has been awarded the European Blue Flag several years in a row. The award is based on the cleanliness of the beach, safety and water quality. The beach is the longest beach in Torrevieja.

Beyond the beach is the outdoor market, where agricultural products, clothes and kitchenware are traded every week (Wednesday 08:00-13:00). The cycling and hiking trails criss-cross the Parque Natural de la Mata, where the flamingos wade in the saltwater lagoons.

Parque Molino del Agua is located in la Mata right down to Playa la Mata and is a large sandy area of more than 500,000 m2. Various small trees, pine trees and beach plants grow here to hold the sand. In the park there is a network of paths, a waterfall and a small pool.
